Last JLUS Public Open House Regarding Land Use Planning Around Dyess Air Force Base
The City of Abilene, in cooperation with the City of Tye, Taylor County, Dyess Air Force Base (AFB), local property owners, residents, and other agencies and organizations in the region, has prepared the Public Draft Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to address planning around Dyess AFB. The primary objectives of the JLUS are to identify and reduce current and potential conflicts between Dyess AFB and surrounding communities while sustaining economic vitality of the region, accommodating new growth and economic development, respecting private property rights, protecting public health and safety, and sustaining the operational missions of Dyess AFB.
At the October 18 open house, attendees will be provided an overview of the key compatibility issues, findings, and recommendations contained in the Public Draft JLUS Report. Public comments on the draft will be accepted at the meeting or can be provided in writing up until the end of the comment period on November 13, 2017. Written comments can be provided through the project website or by e‑mailing comments to the City of Abilene project manager, Don Green at Don.Green@abilenetx.com.
In order to develop a study and recommendations that are responsive to local needs, input from the community is essential!
