Library cards are free for Taylor County residents; $10.00 for non-residents. Simply fill out an application form, present a Photo ID & verification of your address, and staff can create your account in less than 5-minutes.

Complete an Online Registration Form and your account will be created within 1-2 business days. Then visit us to pickup your physical library card. You'll need to present your Photo ID and verification of address. Note: A parent/legal guardian must be present with minors when picking up library cards.

Visit the Circulation Desk and staff will assist you in the registration process. You'll be asked to complete a registration form and present your Photo ID and verification of your address. Minors will need a parent/legal guardian present.

Frequently Asked Questions About Library Cards
General Library Card
Valid for 3-years and checkout an unlimited number of books, 10 DVDs (adult cardholders), 10 audiobooks, and 10 music CDs. Each library card affords you with 3-sessions on library computers per day and access to our E-Resources & Digital Services.
Non-Resident Library Card
Valid for 1-year at an annual fee of $10.00 with access to all services defined above. If you own property in Taylor County, or you're a city employee, you may qualify for a free library card.
Allows users to access library computers only.
A statewide library card that lets you borrow materials from more than 500 Texas libraries. You may acquire one at any library branch with a valid library card. If enrolled in the program outside of Taylor County, present us with your TexShare Card to receive our library card at no charge. You may borrow two (2) items (except DVDs). These cards do not grant access to our Digital Services.
You may apply for a temporary library card, valid for 3-weeks, and you'll be limited to 2-items for checking out. Once we receive verification of your address, staff will modify your record to a permanent card. Acceptable forms of verification includes driver's license, car insurance, checks, bills, lease agreement, etc.
Late fees on all library materials that checkout from the library are $0.25 per day, per item. Late fees will not exceed a $5.00 maximum per item.

Yes. To checkout library materials the library card must be presented to library staff if the primary cardholder is not present. All family members are able to acquire their own library card if needed.

Your Personal Identification Number is used to access your account online and/or use the self-checkout stations. If you do not register for a PIN, contact library staff. PIN's can be a combination of letters numbers (not case-sensitive) and must be at least 4-characters long.
Yes. Contact us and staff will ask for your 13-digit library card number to renew materials. Please Note: Materials may not be renewed if there is an outstanding hold on the item/s or if you've reached your renewal limit.
Yes. Students attending Abilene Christian, Hardin-Simmons, or McMurry universities may use your student/faculty/staff ID as your public library card. Likewise, public library cardholders have borrowing privileges at the three university libraries; however, you will be limited to 5-items at a time.
Contact library staff at 325-677-2474 or visit your nearest branch and report it to staff. We may then update your account to require a Photo ID for checkout and issue you a new library card for $1.00. If you do not report your library card lost/stolen, you will be held responsible for items checked out or returned late.
Your email address is used to send notifications of available holds, late items, etc., which are automatically generated by our system. You will also receive an courtesy emails to alert you of library materials needing to be returned 2-days before they are due. This helps eliminate late fees.
