The Finance Department has received various awards for financial transparency, distinguished budget presentation and excellence in financial reporting.  The following represent some of these awards.

LeadershipCircle2015

As part of our transparency initiative we have received the Platinum Leadership Circle Award from the Texas State Comptroller for 2015.  This award is given to local governments who are striving to achieve a high standard for financial transparency online.  The Platinum award spotlights entities that go above and beyond providing financial transparency.

This represents the sixth year we have received the Leadership Circle award from the Comptroller.  For more information related to transparency in government see the Texas Comptroller's website at http://www.texastransparency.org.

GFOA Budget Award 2016

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.  These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.  This is the 31st consecutive year the City has received this award.

CAFR AWARD 2015

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  This award is presented for the City's comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).  The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.  The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.  This is the 19th consecutive year the City has received this award.
